Customizable Entertainment

Ever notice how entertaining it can be to watch a hamster run and never get anywhere? aBowman provides an app that lets you customize your virtual friend:

I really like the fish, instead! I just wish that they were swimming *faster.*

And I like how it looks like the hamster is looking at the fish sometimes.
It does, doesn't it! Like he's trying to figure out how to get them.

Jammin'

_MG_8428aYou may not know this but I like music.
Me, too, me, too! Our human likes to sing, and she has a good voice.
Right. Well, me and C' were watching TV--
--I was watching. You never seem to notice the TV.
It's just because there's hardly anything interesting on. That's why they call it the idiot box.
Yeah, idiot box!

But what I'm talking about is that performance that we were jammin' to yesterday.
Which one?
That guy on that show. They were seriously goin' at it.
Which guy?
You know, that song that went, "I'm na fawlin off. I'm na fawlin off."
Falling off?
Yeah! That guy with the long blond bob jammin' with the lead singer. And the really tall skinny guy with the ginger hair.
Oh! You mean when she was watching that clip from Conan's show.

No, not the movie with that guy from 'Stargate Atlantis.'
You mean Jason Momoa? I love him! He's really tough. Like you. I can't wait till I can see that one! I don't know why they don't let dogs in movie theatres.
Because when you get excited you bark.
What?!!
You're doing it right now.
Well, at least I don't bark at butterflies.

Ch-ch-ch-changes. Including the Introduction of Dudley

My Boys - 009/365

My human has finally let me use her computer again. As you can see, the last time I was able to blog was back in 2009. A lot has happened since then.

First, my human spent 4 months in Brussels, Belgium. So I spent 4 months with my human's parents in Kansas City. Which made things not so bad. I got to hang out with Brandy and Sandy and Mojo and the queen of the house, Miss Sassy herself, Sable. She likes to bark at us when we're playing. Normally when my human travels someplace, I feel kinda down the entire time she's gone. But her parents are really nice and help remind me of my human. And I used to live at their house, so it's like it's my house anyway. The only thing that would have made things better is if my brothers were with me.

Yeah! It would have been much better if we were there!

Now, you haven't met my brothers. My human calls us 'the boys,' because we're all boys, all three of us.

Cats and Cars

Week 25 - En Garde!
Lately, there's been a cat that has been walking by the house. It likes to walk along this tall wooden fence in the back, too. We have yet to convince it to stay away. I think it's because the lady next has a cat and she feeds the neighborhood strays.

So this is Pepper (left), Cullen (middle), and me (right) barking at that stupid cat.

You might be wondering about the fence. Since my human is just renting, she didn't want to invest in permanent fence, so we got a chicken-wire one instead. It's strong enough to keep us in, so she doesn't have to worry about us wandering off when she lets us out to go to the bathroom.

Week 26 - Doggies in the Window

This other picture is me and Cullen riding in the car. He likes to stick his head out the window almost as much as I do. Doesn't my human have skills? She took this picture without even looking.

Pepper isn't sharing in our fun because he doesn't seem to like smelling out the window. My human will sometimes hold him in her lap and help him, but he pretty much just likes to sit in the back seat. Which I don't mind because when he's in her lap, I can't sit there, and I really like to ride the car sitting in her lap.

Boy, Oh, Boy!

It has been a long time since I have posted. I guess that I have been having so much fun that I forgot! I moved from Kansas City and now I live in Columbia, Missouri. If you don't know where that is, it is in practically in the middle of the United States.

My human and I live in a small house that has a small backyard. And recently, another dog came to live with us. His name is Cullen and he is just a little bit smaller than me. We like to play together, fighting over toys or just running together. My human likes it when we play because "(I'm) learning how to be a normal dog." Although she sometimes keeps telling me to be quiet when we play. I guess I'm barking too much or something.

It's My Stick!
My human has started what she calls "fostering dogs" and that means that new dog friends come and spend the night for a while until they go to their "furever homes." My human thinks that term is cheesy, but that's what they call them -- those places that decide to adopt dogs that were like me -- without a home.

I am so glad that my human found me in the shelter! Since then, I have gotten to travel to lots of different places. I have gone hiking, camping, and even ridden on an airplane several times. She feeds me really good food and often shares a little bit of her leftovers when she eats.

Besides Cullen, we have another dog staying with us, Pepper. Pepper is a Schnoodle and is just a little bit bigger than me. He came from a really bad place, so he can get scared a lot. He has a really high bark that he uses whenever my human comes home from work. It's kind of annoying, because his barking makes my human ignore all of us until he stops.

Week 23 - Chilling at the Lake
Recently, all of us dogs were sick -- either with the runs or throwing up. Pepper had it the worst, having diarrhea a lot. We all ended up going to the doctor to get checked out and then we had to take medicine for a whole week! It was okay, though, because my human likes to wrap our pills in something yummy like cheese or sliced meat. We ate a bunch of rice, too, to help our tummies settle. Pepper having the runs helped him to forget about where we're supposed to go the bathroom, so my human has ended up gating all of us in the bedroom during the day. I mind this a little because I don't get to look out the window as much as a result of it.

Having Cullen and Pepper around is nice, even if they do sometimes step on me. I'm even getting used to Cullen lying next to me or on me. My human is excited because Pepper has just started to play with toys. Before he would just stand there. But now, he will try to steal the toy like Cullen does, or else chases it along with the rest of us... I just wish that he wouldn't run off to the bedroom when he's the one to get it. (He likes to stay on the bed practically all the time.)

Long Time No Bark

It's been a long time since I wrote about my adventures. Over a year! And a lot has happened! When I first came home, I was really skinny. Even though I was fluffy, you could feel my spine when you petted me. And my nails were really long. Instead of growing curved, like most dogs, they would grow straight. My human wonders if they're supposed to do that, so that I can dig easily, but they were still really long. So my human has been slowly making them get shorter.

For a while, some small humans lived with us. Four of them. Them and their dad.

Here's a picture of them:

From the left, that's Erin, Madison, Allison, someone I don't know, and Garrett. This is a picture that they took when we were at the dog park. I love going to the dog park! It is so much fun meeting new dogs!

They stayed with us all summer long. But then they went home. They still come and visit on the weekends, though.

Since I came here, I have gained 8 pounds. This was a while ago, and sometimes my human's Dad says that I am fat, but he forgets that I'm bigger than the average Silky Terrier. Most of them are at least 3-4 inches smaller than me, so they weigh less. All I know is that I am all muscle and can run really fast.

Today I got to go to a really cool place. It was outside and had lots of cool smells and a bunch of other dogs! I got to wander all over *without* a leash on. It was like when we went for a walk up at my human's Mom/brother's house in Maine.

I got to wander around and smell all over and even went walking with a friend, a black German Shepard named Bailey. She was very nice and didn't scare me at all. I like it when I get to go exploring.

Boy, I've Been Busy!

Wow! I can't believe that it's been over a month since I found my human! Not only is she one of the best humans yet, but I have gotten to do so much since we've been together.

When she first got me, my fur was crazy.

Hunh?

But she took me to a lady who washed me -- even though my human is really good about washing me -- and then she trimmed all my fur. It was a little scary, even though they were nice, because I wasn't sure that my new human was coming back. Boy, was I happy when she came and got me!

Since I came home, I have learned to play with my friend, Brandy. She's a lot bigger than me, but my human says that she is the same age. She likes to play rough and tumble a lot.

It's Mine, All Mine!

Sometimes she barks at me, but most of the time, she comes up and play bites me to say that she wants to play. If I don't want to play, I run under the patio table and chairs or I run over to my human and she gets Brandy to stop.
